It has been a such a Cold winter here in Georgia!! The temperature high has been 20 degrees on most days with a few exceptions of 13 degrees. I can't take it anymore!!! I was feeling bored with the same ole "Get up, get dressed, do chores, make breakfast, clean dishes, make lunch, clean dishes, make dinner, clean dishes, dress kids for bed, read story, and try to stay warm" routine that I decided today was going to be a little different. Today I told myself that I am going to cook, take a nap, and catch up on my computer time, and that is exactly what I did.
I tried all day to figure out what I wanted to blog about but hit a wall at every turn. It takes so long and requires so much brain power trying to come up with new fresh ideas that will keep ones attention for at least 2 minutes that one can become discouraged very easily. After a full day and no success, my husband comes in from work and in one sentence gives me a GREAT IDEA! He said, "Since your blog theme is Olde-Times here are not forgotten, why don't you go through some old photos and talk about your memories." What a GREAT IDEA! I wish that I had not spent all day searching for a topic only for him to come in with something so simple but I appreciate it nevertheless. At least now I can go to bed at a decent hour. Well, at least go to bed.
After searching my whole data base I found some photos of my family many, many, years ago.
In this photo, I am the one on the far left with the big "Cheesy" smile, then my mom Joanna, my sister Sharla, my sister Sharmin and my dad Bill. We had such a happy childhood. My dad was more like our brother than a dad although, when he said sit down, one did not look for a chair! He was all about fun, fun, fun, and like any mother my mom always had to intervene when the wrestling got way out of hand. One of us always got hurt, usually my dad but mom was able to comfort him and he was soon back on his feet ready for round two (ding, ding).
This is a photo of me (on the left) and my sister Sharmin. My parents had a wierd sense of humor. My name is Shannon Denise Bohannon. Can you imagine the ridicule? Shannon Bohannon! Everyone always sang the song, Shannon, Shannon, Bohannon, banana fanna, fo fannon, fee, fi, fo fannin, Shannon. At least that's how I remember it anyway. I don't even know the real words but close enough for you to get the idea. And, if that wasn't bad enough they named my sister Sharmin Dawn. She was sqeezably soft and could take the grease off any dish. Poor Us :( Okay, I know what you're thinking now, "What is the third daughter's name?"...... yes, still a sense of humor.......her name is Sharla Deneen. It doesn't rhyme, isn't toilet paper or dishwashing liquid but it most definately stays with the theme of S.D.B.
My mom and dad here. My mom was pregnant with me. She was and still is such a pretty lady. I am so thankful that she carried me for nine months and gave me life. I will always cherish her and her pretty smile and be grateful for all she has taught me over the past forty-two years. Thank you mom!!!
Wow, look how beautiful after having a baby. No wonder my dad married her. But, let's not overlook that walker. I wonder "Does it meet safety regulations?" Don't put that at the top of the stairs. Bye,bye baby! Glad I am still here.
Not only did I have a beautiful mom but I had a handsome dad. I have such good memories with daddy Bo. I always felt safe with him. My uncles used to tell me that they could fight anyone but Bo. He is a strong, stout, and protective father who always loved having fun. And yes, that is me sitting on his lap. Oh the memories!!!
Me, my cousin Gina, my sister Sharmin, and my Mamaw on the far right.
Gina, Janet, Sharmin, Michelle, and Rachel. What is up in this photo? Gina is crying uncontrollably, Janet is wondering why, Sharmin is clapping, Michelle looks like she is trying to stay out of trouble and Rachel is saying "I didn't do it."
Michelle, Janet, Me (Shannon) holding Rachel, Gina, and Sharmin. There were a lot more to come. My grandparents had 4 children, 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. What a clan!! I hope I am as blessed.
That is me in first grade. My only memories of first grade are peeing on the classroom floor (because I was too shy to ask to go to the bathroom) and throwing up because the chocolate milk smelled bad in the cafeteria. The kids use to blow bubbles in their milk with straws and the air would start smelling so bad. I couldn't wait for that year to be over.
This is me but I don't know how old I was. I was definitely posing in this photo. I try to stay as far away from the camera as possible now. I do not like my picture taken. Maybe I will get more brave this year and come out of my shell a little. Who knows?
Me and my sis Sharmin. Isn't that cute, she signed the picture and dotted the i with a heart.
Last but not least, my beautiful Mamaw. The matriarch of the Haley family. I am missing you so much my dear grandmother. Thank you for the beautiful memories and thank you for you. LOVE YOU!!
I love all of you too :)
Shannon
